The love we felt in our hearts when we found out we were pregnant is indescribable. Who knew you could love someone you have never even met. From that day on all Michael and I could talk about were the likes of; “What will his name be?, What will she look like?, I hope he has your smile and I hope she has your eyes.” Between doctors appointments, working full-time and all of other life’s “to do’s;” Pinning on Pinterest was all I did in my spare time. My Baby Armienti Board was created.
Everything from nursery inspiration, baby clothing, baby shower themes, feeding, and maternity style was pinned. I wanted to be prepared as much as I could for the arrival of our sweet baby. We decided to find out the gender of the baby at our 20 week appointment. I myself am not a fan of surprises. So I had a long time to plan for my most favorite home decor project to date. At 20 weeks the ultrasound displayed…It’s a BOY! Welcome to Nico’s Nursery.
Safari Inspired Baby Boy Nursery
Thanks to Pinterest my possible baby nursery themes were endless and each all so unique and beautiful on their own. When we found out we were having a boy it narrowed down my options by 50% right? So the pinning and day dreaming continued. What magical haven for our sweet baby boy would I turn our then guest room in to? I knew a giant shiplap wall would be high on the priority list (you can read about how we made it here) and the design and layout of the nursery was styled around it. So if you read about our shiplap Wall you would know the inspiration came from the one and only Joanna Gains from HGTV’s Fixer Upper.
Now for the theme. We Armientis are Team Taylor Swift. And yes Michael likes her too! We love her music and her music videos are beautifully made. One of her music video themes spoke to me and I just absolutely loved it. I probably watched it a dozen times when it was released. So I made it come to life in Nico’s Nursery. Can you guess what music video it is? Wildest Dreams! The dreamy African desert landscape, strong wild animals roaring with pride and stunning raging waterfalls became the vision board.
Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams Music Video Vision Board
I have always been enamored with nature and wild animals. The beauty, the vulnerability the instinct for survival; it’s captivating. I was moved by the beauty of her video and the fact that she donated the proceeds to the African Parks Foundation of America. I also felt that it was such a powerful theme for a growing young boy. A room where he could admire the animals and feel their pride, look high up in the ceiling to see the planes soaring above and get lost in that giant world map. I knew that when he was born I could show him this world and tell him how much I want him to go and explore it. I always want him to know that the sky is not the limit; the universe is infinite and he should never stop following his dreams.
Newborn photos in Baby Nursery
Nicolas Michael Armienti arrived in this world on a beautiful day in September. A day I will always remember. A day I became a mother and a day that I felt re-born. Michael and I became parents that day. A day that changed our lives forever, for the better. We brought him home and our home felt complete. Two became three and we became a family. A week later we had our amazing friend and photographer Lexi Smith take photos in our home of our sweet baby Nico.
